grepWin

Since grepWin integrates with Windows Explorer, this means that its search functionality is never more than a right click away. Right click a folder or file, select grepWin from the right click context menu, and the grepWin interface will show up. From it you can perform a text search or a regex search. Yes, grepWin provides support for regular expressions. Hit F1 to bring up the Help menu and view a list of regular expression examples.

Please note that grepWin does not support Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system. This fast search tool works with any Windows edition after Windows XP. It works with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and so on. To get it up and running on a PC powered by Vista or newer, you will have to complete a very simple installation procedure.

grepWin’s interface is divided into several sections:
Search in – select the location where grepWin will look for data.
Search – choose between regex and text search; play with some search parameters.
Limit search – play with some more search parameters.
Search results – the search results are displayed here; choose between files and content for the search results.

Use the sections mentioned above to tell grepWin where to look and what to look for. Use grepWin's fairly simple interface to intiate a search and to locate data.

As mentioned above, grepWin provides support for regular expressions. I bring this up again only to add that grepWin allows you to set up a list of presets. You can take your most used regular expressions and add them to a presets list. Thus, you can easily select a regular expression from the presets list.
